WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), chair of the Senate Pro-Life Caucus, today issued a message that encourages those who will take part in today’s 52nd annual March for Life to “remain vigilant against pro-abortion agendas, the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions, and attacks on religious liberties.”
Hyde-Smith, who will attend the march, is among the pro-life leadership in Congress who this week issued a letter, signed by 36 Senators and 108 Representatives, that strongly encourages President Trump to reinstate the life-affirming policies of his first administration and roll back the oppressive pro-abortion policies of the last administration.
“The 2025 March for Life theme, ‘Life: Why We March,’ is a great reminder of why the movement remains strong. For more than 50 years, millions of Americans – young and old – have come together in Washington, D.C. to defend the sanctity of life,” Hyde-Smith said.
“With President Trump back in office, we have an incredible opportunity to build on the progress we've made to focus on policies that truly protect both mothers and their unborn children. We must engage in honest, thoughtful conversations to make the best policy decisions for life – decisions rooted in compassion and support,” Hyde-Smith continued.
“This June will mark the third year since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. That was a monumental victory, but our work is far from over,” she said. “We must remain vigilant against pro-abortion agendas, the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions, and attacks on religious liberties.”
While Senate Democrats filibustered the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (S.6) on Wednesday, Hyde-Smith reaffirmed her commitment to using every opportunity to promote pro-life legislation and policies. Since the start of the 119th Congress, Hyde-Smith has thrown her support behind the:
• Abortion is Not Health Care Act to end the federal tax deductibility of abortion.
• Protecting Life in Health Savings Accounts Act to prevent abortion procedures from getting a special federal tax advantage.
• Unborn Child Support Act to give mothers the ability to receive child support payments while they are pregnant.
• Protecting Life on College Campus Act to prohibit federal funds from going to any institution of higher learning that hosts or is affiliated with a student-based service site that provides abortion drugs or abortions to students or employees of the institution.
• Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act to protect the rights of individuals with Down syndrome by federally prohibiting doctors from knowingly performing abortions in cases where a baby received a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome.
• No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act to prevent all federal funds from being used to pay for abortion or health benefits that include abortion.
