WASHINGTON (WTVA) - A Louisville, Mississippi, company has been chosen to build commercial cranes for the U.S. Army.

In a joint news release from U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., Taylor Defense Products won a $261.7 million contract.

The company is no stranger to military contracts.

In May, the Army awarded Taylor Defense a $1.27 million contract to develop a modernized Rough Terrain Container Handler prototype as part of the Army’s mission to replace obsolete components with new technology that’ll increase the vehicles’ capabilities and extend its system service life.

In June 2019, the Navy chose Taylor Defense to repair and maintain all-terrain cranes for the Marine Corps, a contract worth up to $84 million over the course of 10 years.
