Hyde-Smith speaks at legislative luncheon at MGCCC
By Andrew Scherer
Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith made her way down to the Gulf Coast to speak in Gulfport.
The senator spoke today at the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce’s annual Legislative Luncheon. Community members from the entire Coast were on hand to watch Hyde-Smith receive the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Spirit of Enterprise award in recognition of her ‘pro-business voting record.’ “You know when the Gulf Coast thrives, the entire state thrives. We’ve had a lot of issues with the flooding and the freshwater that is coming in and the effect, the adverse effect that it’s having on our fisherman, the shrimp season, the oyster beds, and I wanted to address some of that today. I want to let them know that we are working to correct a lot of things that can be corrected legislatively.”
Hyde-Smith also mentioned to News 25 that she doesn’t support an individual candidate in the upcoming runoff for Republican governor nominee, but she expects the state to elect the right candidate.
