HYDE-SMITH STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT’S 2021 BUDGET PLAN

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s FY2021 budget request:

“The President’s budget requests represents the Administration’s priorities.  I appreciate the President’s attention to our national defense, border security, and the need to tackle a very concerning budget deficit.  It will be challenging, but I hope we will find bipartisan support to do what’s best for the American people,” Hyde-Smith said.

“The allocation of federal funds has important implications for Mississippi, and I’ll carefully review the details of this budget to see how it could affect our state.  I am committed to working with my colleagues on the Appropriations Committee to do what’s best for our state and the nation,” she said.

The release of the budget will begin the budget and appropriations process to write and approve the 12 annual funding bills for the upcoming fiscal year, which will begin Oct. 1, 2020.

Hyde-Smith serves on the appropriations subcommittees on Agriculture; Energy and Water Development; Homeland Security; Interior and Environment; Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education; and the Legislative Branch.  She is chairman of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee.
