Sen. Hyde-Smith condemns Biden admin at news conference held over proposed rule

Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith held a news conference, along with Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville and others, on the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
Hyde-Smith condemned the Biden administration’s proposed rule issued today that allows transgender individuals to take part in sports of their preferred gender.
Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program receiving federal dollars.
Hyde-Smith is an original co-sponsor of S.251, addressing compliance with Title IX provisions dealing with athletics to ensure gender is “recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”
She has also been a critic of HR5, a House passed bill to alter how the United States addresses gender identity. “It was meant to ensure equity between men and women in athletics and education. And the Biden Administration is carelessly threatening that equity. It just angers me. The Biden Administration is working to redefine ‘sex’ to include ‘gender identity’ in the name of anti-discrimination. But this is discrimination against women, plain and simple.”
