HYDE-SMITH STATEMENT ON FORMER GULFPORT MAYOR GEORGE SCHLOEGEL
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement on the passing of former Gulfport Mayor George Schloegel:
“Gulfport is what it is today because of the leadership, intelligence, and determination that characterized George Schloegel. Throughout his career as a banker, civic leader, and as mayor during those unsettled years right after Hurricane Katrina, he remained focused on making Gulfport and the Mississippi Gulf Coast a better place to live and work.
“My condolences go out to the Schoegel family and the Gulfport community on the passing of a truly good man.”
