Senator Recognizes Two Other Mississippi Honorees Cited by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) on Wednesday commended Jodie Felton of Cleveland, who was honored this week as 2023 Angel in Adoption for her advocacy and care of foster children for almost 30 years.
Hyde-Smith, a member of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, recommended Felton for the honor as part of the annual Angels in Adoption program sponsored by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI). For the past 28 years, Felton has fostered hundreds of children and youth.
“Jodie Felton has demonstrated an unwavering commitment for foster children in need of a safe and loving environment in which to live. Our state is blessed to have such caring people, like Jodie, who see a need and embrace that challenge to improve the lives of others,” Hyde-Smith said.
Elijah’s Closet in Biloxi, also recommended by Hyde-Smith, was also named as a 2023 Angels in Adoption honoree. This a nonprofit that was founded by Nikki Williams to help supply foster families with items necessary for children entering their home.
Dickinson was honored for his extensive work within the judiciary and public policy arena, and as an adoptive parent and foster care advocate.

The nonprofit, nonpartisan CCAI advocates for increased awareness about children in need of a stable home environment and supports eliminating barriers to adoption. CCAI, which does not receive government funding, was established in 2001 as an outgrowth of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption.
