Over $83 million headed to Mississippi for military construction projects
WXXV Staff
Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith announced Senate passage of legislation that directs more than $83 million for military construction projects in the Magnolia State.
The projects are set for Keesler Air Force Base here on the coast, but there are also construction projects at Columbus Air Force Base and a few army and national guard bases.
Keesler is receiving a little under $2 million to complete planning and design of an air traffic control tower.
The Senate bill also increases funding for the Armed Forces Retirement Home, which operates in both Gulfport and Washington, D.C.
Almost $300 billion would be provided to the Department of Veterans Affairs for Fiscal Year 2024.
