Local Health Centers Receive Money to Fight Opioid and Substance Abuse

Two local community health centers have been awarded thousands of dollars to implement treatments for opioid and substance abuse.

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Two local community health centers have been awarded thousands of dollars to implement treatments for opioid and substance abuse, announced U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith.

The local recipients include Access Family Health Services, Inc. in Smithville. It will receive $285,000.

Another local recipient is the Mantachie Rural Health Care, Inc. It will receive $195,220.

More than a dozen other community health centers across the state will receive funding as well. In total, 18 centers will receive more than $5 million.

The awards are part of more than 1,200 grants nationwide awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
