HYDE-SMITH HONORS U.S. SERVICEMEMBERS ON 2024 VETERANS DAY

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement on Veterans Day, honoring the sacrifices of the nation’s veterans and encouraging Mississippians to deepen their engagement with them:

“On this Veterans Day, we pause to honor and reflect on the immense sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have served our nation.  Their courage, strength, and commitment to protecting our freedom are the foundation of the liberties we hold dear as Americans.

“Mississippi’s veterans and their families have made countless contributions to the defense of our nation, and it is our solemn duty to ensure they receive the care and support they deserve.  As a grateful nation for their sacrifices, we must continue to remember, honor, and engage with our veterans in every way possible – not just today, but every day.”

Hyde-Smith also encouraged Mississippians to participate in National Warrior Call Day on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, to actively engage with veterans and servicemembers in an effort to curb the mental health risks many servicemembers face after defending our nation.  Hyde-Smith is an original cosponsor of the National Warrior Call Day Resolution (S.Res.838), which the Senate passed in September.

“Reaching out, listening, and letting our heroes know they are valued and not forgotten can make a profound difference,” said Hyde-Smith.

Hyde-Smith also reiterated her commitment to assisting Mississippi veterans with accessing U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs resources.  Veterans facing difficulties with VA services are encouraged to reach out to her office for assistance.
