HYDE-SMITH SLAMS LATEST BIDEN-HARRIS SALVO AGAINST AMERICAN ENERGY
Miss. Senator Calls for Restoration of Domestic Energy Security After Release of LNG Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today criticized the latest salvo by the outgoing Biden-Harris administration against U.S. energy production, a skewed study on American liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.
The U.S. Department of Energy study released Tuesday was conducted as part of the administration’s efforts to pause or stop the export of LNG, much of which is shipped through the Gulf of Mexico. Hyde-Smith has vehemently opposed this policy as a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
“The Biden administration’s reckless energy policies compromise our national security, drive up costs for hardworking Americans, and fuel global emissions. Instead of championing all American energy, which is cleaner and safer than the foreign imports we rely on, this administration continues to undermine our domestic industry and disregard the welfare of American families,” Hyde-Smith said.
“The release of this LNG export study is just the latest example of their misguided energy agenda that puts our national security at risk while making energy unaffordable across the nation. It’s time for this destructive trend to end. I am committed to once again restoring American energy security and independence under President Trump’s leadership,” she said.
In July, Hyde-Smith supported committee passage of the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2025 (S.4753), a bill which would have mandated increased offshore oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico, permanently ended the Biden administration’s so-called pause on LNG exports, and expedite judicial reviews of federal energy and mineral project authorizations. Efforts to reach a compromise to clear this legislation before the end of the 118th Congress collapsed earlier this week.
