Sen. Hyde-Smith announces $11.9 million grant for water infrastructure

U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith announced Thursday that Mississippi will be receiving an $11.9 million grant for public water system improvements.
The Environmental Protection Agency approved the Mississippi Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to be administered by the Mississippi Department of Health, according to a Hyde-Smith news release. The money will be used for water infrastructure projects designed to provide communities with safe water supplies.
“The State Revolving Fund helps rural communities and water associations afford to make improvements to their water infrastructure to ensure Mississippians have access to clean and safe drinking water,” Hyde-Smith said in a statement. “I’m pleased the state will be able to put these resources to work to improve water services around the state.”
The EPA provides grants to help states comply with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
