5 local teens attending military academies

By Duncan Dent

Five Madison County students are attending three different service academies this school year.

The United States Military Academy at West Point in New York State has the most, with three students.

These include:
• Savannah McDonald, a Germantown High School grad from Madison County.
• Jameson Clancy, a St. Joseph Catholic School grad from Madison.
• Judson W. Meredith, a Madison Ridgeland Academy graduate from Madison.

Jonathan Livingston, a St. Andrews Episcopal School graduate from Ridgeland, will attend the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Noah Short of Madison is a recent graduate of the Naval Academy Prep School and previously attended Madison-Ridgeland Academy. He will attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, this fall.

All received nominations from Sen. Roger Wicker, Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith or U.S. Rep. Michael Guest.

“These fine students represent the future of our military,” Senator Wicker said. “The appointments are a testament to the students’ prior and future commitment to their communities and fellow neighbors. I thank them for serving our country and representing the great state of Mississippi.”
