HYDE-SMITH ANNOUNCES $1.0 MILLION GRANT TO ADVANCE MANUFACTURING IN MISSISSIPPI
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today announced a $1.0 million Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) grant to support a Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA) program to improve the competitiveness of the state’s manufacturing sector.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology grant will support ongoing work by the MEP Center for Mississippi, a MMA-led initiative involving community college and university-based programs to advance manufacturing capabilities in the state.
“Manufacturing is a solid and growing sector in our state’s economy, and this investment will help ensure small and medium-sized companies and the workforce in Mississippi can adapt to meet changing market demands,” Hyde-Smith said.
The MMA has MEP Centers at the Itawamba Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, the Mississippi State University Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems, the Mississippi Corridor Consortium (Coahoma, East Mississippi, Itawamba, Northeast and Northwest Mississippi community colleges), and the Mississippi Polymer Institute in Hattiesburg.
NIST, an agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce, awarded the $1,093,782 grant through the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership program.
