HYDE-SMITH MOURNS LOSS OF MISS. SERVICEMAN IN MID-AIR COLLISION
Brooksville, Miss., Native and Army Helicopter Pilot Killed in Tragic Accident in Washington, D.C.-area
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement after being notified by military officials Thursday that Brooksville native, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Loyd Eaves, was among the three soldiers killed when their helicopter collided with a passenger airline headed to Washington Reagan National Airport on Wednesday night:
“My heart breaks for Andrew Eaves’ family, friends, and fellow servicemen. So many Mississippians will share in the tears and suffering of all the families affected by this terrible accident. The emerging details of this accident must not obscure the fact that they have all lost loved ones, nor the bravery of Andrew and his fellow soldiers in serving their nation. I lift up my prayers to all who knew and loved Andrew, and the other victims of this deeply saddening tragedy.”
