HYDE-SMITH PRAISES NEW EV MANUFACTURING MISSION FOR NISSAN CANTON
Nissan Leadership Met with Hyde-Smith Wednesday to Discuss the New Investment
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement praising the Nissan Motor’s new electric vehicle investment in its Canton manufacturing facility, as well as the state and local collaboration supporting the plant transformation.
“Nissan’s plans to launch electric vehicle production in Madison County represents another banner moment for manufacturing in Mississippi. I was a state senator when Nissan first determined Mississippi would be an ideal home to build its cars and the move toward EV production rivals the excitement we had then. I commend Nissan, Governor Reeves, the Mississippi Development Authority, Accelerate Mississippi, Madison County, and everyone involved in this wonderful news, and I am committed to continuing my support of auto manufacturing in our state.”
Hyde-Smith on Wednesday met with Nissan Motor Corporation, Ltd. Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta and Nissan Americas Chair Jérémie Papin to discuss the project. Access an image from that meeting here.
